Rebellion Deficit Gig Poster
For this Project I created a Gig poster for a band I created. It was really fun to make something creative that could portray a feeling and a vibe rather then a message. I wanted to create this gig poster so that someone could look at it and be able to tell that its for a band that creates country music with an old-timey retro type feel. It was such a fun project! I loved working on this and creating a feel rather then a message.
Sketches
First I started with my sketches, I wanted to do something with a cowboy hat and maybe a heart or some sort of repeating retro pattern. I created several different sketches with ideas of what I wanted to do before I finally decided to jump into the computer and get going.
Process
I created my hat which looked like a blob until I added my shadows and highlights. Then I created an outline that I then off set from the hat itself. As for the background I wanted to incorporate some sort of heart into it so I created a heart that then had rays going outward, All leading towards the hat. I really liked the concept, however the heart was hard to see behind the hat and it just seemed too simple, it needed something more.

We got Issues...
My computer decided out of no where to crash and stopped working for a few days and I thought I might've lost all of my work. Luckily I was able to save it all and I got my computer working again!! Amidst all the stress of technology issues I was able to get some feedback on my project.

Feedback
Again the design was too simple it needed something added to it aside from just a simple hat The background was also a bit busy and distracting with all of the leading lines towards the center. I had no clue what to add and not only that but I was still at a loss for what to do with the type. I needed a band name and needed to make sure the typography fit with the poster.

An Idea
out of nowhere the thought occurred to me, what if the hat wasn't facing the way you would expect. so I flipped it over but then it was a tad confusing, what does one do with an upside down hat? Then it hit me, what if a cactus was growing out of the hat. I took that idea and I proceeded to run with it I was able to create a really great graphic. Then I took the spiral and toned it down a bit so it faded more into the background. Then I added a texture to give it more depth.

Outline Comparison
Conclusion
I really feel like I was able to capture the emotion and the vibe I was trying to portray and I'm very proud of how this turned out!! Enjoy!!
